England are the new World and European champions

'AVE IT YOU BLOODY FOREIGNER

After a magnificient display of defensive hoof-merchantry, England snuck a surprising 1-0 victory over Spain. This type of game was almost built for an English mentality, where we often play better as plucky underdogs. The technical deficiencies and nervousness on the ball were there for all to see, but I say just enjoy the fun victory.

Unlikely results aside, ITV also came up with some top commentating chuff -

Walcott's clearly got the speed to embarrass them – and the touch, technique and decision making skills to embarass himself

It's almost a no-lose situation, because Spain are so good – except if we lose

The anthems will be sung with feeling . . . not the Spanish anthem though, as it has no words – Cue hundreds of Spanish fans singing along

Spain haven't passed the ball very well yet! - England haven't touched the ball in the opening 3 minutes, but Spain haven't yet scored

There's a tradition of Spanish players being under 6ft – except for all the really tall ones, like Pique, Sergio Ramos, Busquets, and so on

They don't like it em up, Captain Manwaring – an English player did a successful tackle

That Spanish tackle was a little bit over the top and late – unlike our brave boys, who only ever commit solid English tackles
